Your own Research Unit

PlantLab develops, builds and supplies state-of-the-art Research Units fitted with advanced LED lighting. PlantLab has wide in-house experience in the fields of engineering, construction and after sales of Research Unit and Research Cabinets. These Research products are particularly suitable for universities, plant breeders and laboratories.

For the development of our Research Units and Cabinets the plant always takes centre stage. PlantLab applies innovative and proven techniques in the field of measuring and control engineering, sensors and climate control. At PlantLab’s special request Philips developed the Far-red LED in 2007. Far red is a light color (at a wavelength of 735 nanometer) hardly visible for the human eye but an important steering factor for plants. In combination with the amount of red light Far red influences the architecture of the plant. Far red stimulates cell mitosis.

The central brain of each Research Cabinet and Research Unit consists of PlantLab OS (Operating System). To facilitate the users each Research Unit can be linked to the Internet so that you can follow and control your research from any random location. PlantLab can use the same Internet connection to support its clients technically and provide them with feedback.

PlantLab combines technical and plant expertise this way. With this mix of knowledge we develop the most fantastic research facilities for researchers, completely in line with your research needs, varying from a Research Cabinet of 650 and 1400 liters (PRC 650 and PRC 1400) to Research Units with one or more R&D rooms. You are welcome to visit by appointment our PlantLab R&D facility ‘Center of Growing Concepts’ in ‘s-Hertogenbosch with 8 rooms and a total of 56 separate compartments! We also develop tailor made, special products, for instance for testing the germination of seeds.

PlantLab’s Research package can be delivered complete and custom-made to the customer:

Research at PlantLab

In assignment of many clients in the field of breeding, propagation, seed production, seed testing, vitro-vivo hardening, plant production, pharma and other complicated areas, PlantLab is researching the optimal growth circumstances to be captured in Growing Recipes.

In our research facility, plant physiological research is carried out into the optimal growth circumstances. We research which combinations of LED light colors, LED light quantity, temperature, RV and CO2 levels and airspeed in are required for optimum growth.

The lead time of the traditional research is reduced enormously due to the fact that research at PlantLab is done simultaneously under various combinations of the mentioned parameters. This research is not disturbed by any external circumstances.
